What is Gooroo Clubs?
Gooroo Clubs is an online project-based learning platform focusing on Arts, Science, and Technology. Every week, we release new content for each of our various clubs — all centred around NYS educational standards. Therefore, not only are our videos fun, they’re also educational! Music Club
One of our first Gooroo Clubs is Music Club. Music is a universal language, shared by all people of all ages. In Music Club, learn more about the magic behind your favourite songs, and the expansive and specific art of music. What’s more, examine the vital elements of music so you can become a melody expert. Ignite your passion for all aspects of music with these creative hands-on projects.
Meet Your Music Gooroos
But, who will be guiding you on this musical journey? Meet your musical savants!
Brooke T. is a composer, percussionist, and teaching artist in New York City. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music Composition and has been performing as a drummer/percussionist for over sixteen years. She loves to play rock music and write musical theatre.
Frank V. is a professional jazz musician with training from NYU and WWU. Nominated as the Emerging Artist of the Year 2017 by Earshot Jazz Magazine, his music is fluid and unapologetic. Frank aims to inspire a deep love of the art in his students.
Liza W. is a classical pianist, organist, and keyboardist who regularly performs internationally. She has been a long-time affiliate at many music organizations including Columbia University, New York University, Interlochen Arts Camp, and Westchester Conservatory of Music.
Maker Club
Our other club launching is Maker Club! Maker Club is the perfect place to explore your designing, innovating and tinkering affinities. In this club you will be challenged to think outside the box and continuously level up your skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math through a hands-on approach. Additionally, develop your problem solving and logic skills by joining this club and be inspired to create something you’re proud of. Gain the confidence to be creative!
Meet Your Maker Gooroos
But, who will be your leader through this scientific exploration? Meet your Master Makers!
Joyce S. is a Chemistry & Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering student at NYU. She currently works as a student researcher and endeavors to bridge the gap between industry and academia for students.
Max S. is a physics enthusiast and rising senior at Rutgers University. Academically, he is most intrigued by the intuitive and approachable nature of forces and mechanics. Outside of physics, Max likes to stay active and follow sports.
Ariella F. is an economics major at Barnard College and a seasoned Math and English tutor. She takes pride in targeting specific problem areas, creating engaging educational content, and challenging students to apply their skills to the real world.

Can you count like a metronome? Or pitch a note like a bird? Next week in Music Club, you’ll discover that Everyone’s a Musician. First, learn the rules of rhythm. Then, break down Western harmony. Until lastly, you power-up your musicianship with dynamics and accents — all taught by our Gooroo Brooke T.!

Meanwhile, in Maker Club… Learn about the Earth, Moon and Sun, how they relate to each other, and how this affects the seasons. With Gooroo Ariella F., start by visualizing the Space System. Then, see how the Sun affects our Seasons. Lastly, build your own rover to explore the Moon!
