That is to say, we are always learning whether it be in a school capacity or not. Every time we repeat an action, we’re learning. Or, every time we try something new, we’re learning. John Dewey, the author of this quote, believe in progressive education. Simply, this meant an emphasis on learning by doing. He believe reality must be experienced in order to be understood. This education quote is coined by Maimonides, a medieval philosopher. He sets out the principles of the wealth of education. Additionally, it draws upon the philosopher’s idea of a “moral character” and the idea of free will. We must teach ourselves the qualities of kindness, openness, and humility.
